2005-2006 CYA Wrestling: Never Give Up (NGU)

CYA Wrestling is back for another season with goals of going beyond the benchmark set by last years team.  Four CYA wrestlers captured Northern Virginia Wrestling Federations Championships, 12 more placed in the top three in their weight/age divisions.  Thats an awesome accomplishment for a team composed of mainly first year grapplers!

Practice begins on November 14.  Football and baseball players can begin practice when playoffs are completed.  CYA Wrestling practices on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm until 8pm in the Chantilly High School Wrestling Room.  We do have fun... and work hard.  We concentrate on teaching boys to become men, through wrestling, by teaching four simple things:

1.      Working Hard
2.      Setting Goals
3.      Believing in yourself
4.      Wrestling to win

Registration is still open for all athletes, grades K-8.  Registration fee is $130 (no late registration fees).

All your son needs for practice is T-shirt, shorts, socks, & wrestling shoes.  You can buy wrestling shoes at Dick's or at Modell's sporting goods store in Fair Lakes.  Ebay is another excellent source.

CYA provides singlets for meets.  Last year, each wrestler purchased sweat pants, a hooded sweat shirt, with matching t-shirt and shorts.  We will do this again this year, order forms will be available during the second week of practice.  Although we purchased these items to wear as 'warm up gear' for meets, many of the boys wore the shirt/shorts for practice too.

CYA Wrestling competes as a member club in the Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation.  Tournaments begin in Mid-December and conclude with the Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation Championships the first weekend in March 2006.  We will have a tournament in the local area (no further south than Stafford, no further east than Alexandria, no further North than Langley, no further West than Manassas), every weekend in January and February on either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.  At tournaments, each wrestler will usually wrestle 3 matches in a 4-man round robin bracket.
