Fairfax County Public Schools has now closed all schools through Wed. Feb. 10th due to the impact of the Winter storm and thus all school gyms are closed. Hoop Magic however has decided to open today. As a result, please note the following:

• All Travel basketball games are cancelled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as are all Travel practices at all school locations.

• All House practices/games are cancelled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at all school locations.

• Travel practices and high school league practices scheduled at Hoop Magic can proceed as scheduled for Monday 2/8. We will evaluate the situation for Tuesday and Wednesday by early Tuesday afternoon as we know more about the approaching storm. Players should check with their coach to determine whether or not practice is being held. Players should not go to Hoop Magic for practices if local driving conditions are hazardous.

If the next snow is significant, schools could close through the rest or the week and even into the weekend. Families should check this CYA website for nightly updates as conditions change.

Please note: CYA has added a $10 fee per registration of rectangular field sports (Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Rugby, and Soccer).  The CYA Board of Directors established this fee in order to be able to fund installing an artificial turf surface when the opportunity avails itself.  Additionally, CYA has added a $10 fee per registration of sports that use gyms (Basketball, Cheerleading, Volleyball, and Wrestling) to support future gymnasium development.
