Bantam Season to Start April 17

Coaches Meeting/Clinic now April 3

The first game of the Bantam Soccer season, previously scheduled to take place on April 3, will now be on Saturday April 17. This will allow us to take advantage of the additional daylight (for U-7 practices) and the (hopefully) warmer weather and also avoid a week off immediately after the first game for spring break. Those players who would have missed the first game of the season due to spring break will now be able to play. There will still be 8 games in the season which will now end on June 12.

If you have not yet heard from your child's coach, don't worry - there is still plenty of time! Coaches will be contacting you over the next week.

Also to accomodate this change, the Bantam Coaches meeting/clinic, previously scheduled for March 27, will take place at Rocky Run Middle School on Saturday April 3 (same times, 9:00-12:00, but note location change). Coaches unable to attend themselves due to spring break should arrange for an assistant coach to come in their place.

CYA Soccer Offering USSF 'F' Licence Course

March 19/20 2004

CYA Soccer is hosting a USSF 'F' Licence course (U6-U8 and U8-U10 modules) on Friday 19 March and Saturday 20 March. The course lasts 6 hours consisting of a classroom session on the Friday evening 6:00-9:30 (for all age groups) followed by an age-specific field session on Saturday (9:00-11:00 for U6-U8 coaches, 11:00-1:00 for U8-U10) - attendance at classroom and field session session is required to receive a coaching certificate (no examination is required). The location of the classroom and field sessions is still to be determined.

All coaches are encouraged to hold a USSF coaching certificate for the age group that they are coaching, so if you do not currently have an 'F' Licence, please consider signing up for this session. Age Group Coordinator Needed

For the Bantam Boys U-6 Division

Thanks to all of you who stepped up to volunteer for the open Boys U-6 age group coordinator - the response was great! We have now filled this position for the upcoming season.

Don't forget that CYA is run completely by volunteers - even though this position is full, there are many other tasks that need to be performed to ensure the program runs smoothly. If you want to help out, don't hesitate to contact me or any of the other Soccer Board members.

Bantam Coaching Clinic - Cancelled

Franklin Middle School Cafeteria - Sunday Nov 2 2pm - 5pm

Due to a lack of response, the session scheduled for Sunday November 2nd is canceled.

Spring 2013 Season Details

Welcome to CYA Bantam Soccer. The program cover the youngest age groups from the Under 5 years old (U5) through the U7 players. The emphasis of the program is on having fun and teaching players the fundamental skills of soccer.

The Bantam Division is organized as follows:

U5 will be mixed gender teams (girls & boys)

U5 will not practice during the week (practice time is incorporated into the weekly game)

U5 will play 3 vs. 3 with no goalkeepers

U6 will be single gender teams

U6 will not practice during the week (practice time is incorporated into the weekly game)

U6 will play 4 vs. 4 with no goalkeepers

U7 will be single gender teams

U7 will have a single one hour practice a during the week

U7 will play 4 vs. 4 with no goalkeepers

All games will be on Saturdays. The Spring Season starts in early April. There will be a mandatory coaches meeting and clinic held prior to the start of the season.(date: to be announced).
