Fall/Winter 2020

Registration is closed.

Thank you all for a great Fall Season!  We made it safely without a single case of COVID being identified.  That is a testament to the program safety guidelines, coaches, players and most of all the parents following the guidelines.

I would like to THANK the following people who made it all possible:

  • Coaches - your coaches happily volunteer their time and we can't have a program without them.  Please give your coaches a big thank you!  All coaches are volunteers and are deserving of our passionate thanks.  Especially given the trying times we are currently in.
  • Parent Volunteers - to those volunteers who help organize team snacks, team events, rake fields, shag balls, help the coaches out in every way - thank you!
  • Board Members:  Many do dual duty coaching and running the program.  Please give a big thank you to:  Trey Lackey, Donovan McKeown, John Burns, Sarah Tisinger, Michael Rager, Natalie Rose, Dave Wells, and John Philipps.  They do the behind the scenes work that allows us to offer a great program.
  • CYA - without the great work of Mark Abbott, Executive Director of CYA, the CYA Board, Zack and the Field House staff, and all the Sports Coordinators, we would not have had a season.  They were on top of all the information coming out from various sources - CDC, Virginia, VHSL, NCAA, etc. ... they digested all that information, consulted with the County and other experts, and were able to help the CYA sports roll out a SAFE summer/fall season in many sports.  It was a herculean effort.

Please note that we will be opening registration in January most likely, so please stay tuned.

CYA Softball:

  • Safety is our number one priority.  As you can imagine, the Corona virus has caused us to take a pause and do some serious, in depth analysis and planning to see how we can provide a safe program for the kids
  • We have reviewed the guidlines issues by the CDC, Virginia Governor and some Softball Associations. We are able to extract some best practices from those sources.
  • We are committed to bringing you a fall softball season, but it will be modified to mitigate risks with player safety as the highest priority.
  • National (NCAA), State and Local organizations have declared diamond sports as the least risky of our sports.
  • CYA softball program details were email out to the registrants of the past few seasons.
