The CYA Cobras are looking for 1-2 additional players for the upcoming U12 season starting in the Fall 2008 and are holding open try-outs throughout the spring season. The team currently competes in the ODSL and is currently on the waitlist to possibly play in the NCSL sometime in the spring U12 or fall U13 season. The team has been steadily raising the competitive level of the team through professional training and hard work while still having fun. Our team philosophy is to foster a love for soccer and to develop the skills (both individual skills and teamwork skills) of each player according to their needs and desires. Players are expected to contribute to the team effort at all times while respecting other players, coaches, trainers, referees, etc. The team is a previous winner of the Randy Rawls ODSL Sportsmanship Award for their division. Each season, the Cobras will play in 2-3 local/regional tournaments, provide professional training, and hold team outings to see DC United play or hold other team-bonding events. As a travel team, the Cobras play year-round, including indoor soccer and outdoor training over the winter and a residential team camp over the summer. Players are encouraged to be multi-sport athletes as it helps in their development as an athlete and all-around player; however, every attempt to minimize conflicts is expected. The coaches are experienced in coaching youth soccer at the travel level, player and team skill development, and they are certified by the US Soccer Federation (USSF) and belong to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
