2. Treasurer’s Report –
· None
3. Cheerleading – Theresa Ogden is moving out of the area, Toni Lightfoot has volunteered to be the Cheerleading Coordinator. The season currently runs from July to January – Toni is interested in extending the season if possible.
4. Indoor Facilities – Ralph
· St. Veronica Catholic Church is seeking a partner to help in gym construction
· Ed Miller read an open letter from Bill Bailey on the subject
· Ralph to schedule a meeting with the Pastor
5. Outdoor Facilities - Hal Strickland
· CYA is exploring additional opportunities in partnership with local businesses to build additional fields
· The fields at Quinn Farm are being used by CYA (Lacrosse) and SYA – a dog park is planned too
· Loudoun County zoning changes and development on the border of Fairfax south of Dulles may spur additional field development (Fairfax providing land if Loudon builds recreational facilities
· Arrowhead Park is behind schedule but light installation is moving forward
· Word of Grace – The Wiffle Ball World Series, a fundraiser for the Brian Bedell 2-Young Foundation (for brain cancer research) is scheduled for May 21st, come and check it out!

· Motion to approve Toni Lightfoot as the Cheerleading Coordinator was made, seconded, and passed unanimously
· Motion to approve Corporate Resolution Document (required by Gaming Commission, authorizing officers as listed in the document) was made, seconded, and approved unanimously)
7. Registration, Sports Reporting, and Facility Allocations – Karen Shores
· Only 67 walk-in registrations for summer/fall sports were taken on Saturday May 14th
· Allocation requests for fall are due June 1st
8. Old Business
· Wrestling Budget for Winter 2005/2006 was proposed by Andy Miller – generally accepted by those members present – but no vote was taken to approve as there was no quorum
· Ed to forward the budget to all board members for approval via email
· Additional Wrestling discussion – Andy needs help with obtaining additional space/time for Wrestling @CHS (or elsewhere) – Ralph to contact Rachel Carson Principal to inquire about auxiliary room
· CYA Rugby proposal – Discussed and generally accepted by those members present (Ed insisted that a board member or someone very familiar with CYA sports administration “mentor” this new program, Ralph agreed to be this mentor or to identify one) - but no vote was taken to approve as there was no quorum
· Ed to forward the Rugby proposal to all board members for approval via email
· The motion to propose an amendment to the By-Laws, striking the restriction against the CYA President coaching or managing a team – remains tabled (lack of quorum)
· Ed to forward this proposed motion to all board members for approval via email

10. Insurance – No report
11. KidSafe – Jack Smit
· Approximately 800 volunteers have had background checks completed
· An additional 200 (approx.) volunteers are soon to be processed
· Jack to provide additional direction to the coordinators regarding making sure that all volunteers have had background checks
12. New Business
· Jack moved (seconded) that a new Article XIII (see attached) regarding the KidSafe program be added to the By-Laws. Since no quorum was present, the motion was tabled, Ed to forward to all board members for approval via email
13. Discussion for the good of CYA
· CYA completed an “Interim Use Agreement” with Long and Foster (new owner of the Washington Post property) to continue using the fields there for up to a year (but Long and Foster needs only to provide 30 days notice to terminate early!)
