UPDATE: Because of technical problems with the online registration system, registration for CYA Basketball without late fee was extended through midnight on Sunday 3/5. Late registration began on Monday March 6th and ran through March 22nd. As of March 23rd, registrants will only be accepted as space permits in each individual league; all others will be placed on a waiting list.
NOTE: Most leagues still have space. To register, click on the registration link on the side of this webpage or contact the registrar, Cindy Aune, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CYA will once again be offering a Spring basketball program this year for those in Grades 4-12 only, including any individuals who played for their high school team in the Winter (due to gym space limitations, we cannot run programs for 1st-3rd grade in the Spring). Although the dates have not yet been finalized, Spring basketball will run from mid-April until mid-June, with teams playing the same number of regular season games (9 or 10) as in the Winter season and participating in end of season tournaments. Due to the shortness of the Spring season, those in the upper grades (7-12 grade) will have a limited number of pre-season practices and then go to one weekeday game and one weekend game per week. Those in the elementary grades (4-6) will have one weekday practice and one weekend game until near the end of the season, at which time they two may go to 2 games per week (depending upon gym availability).
Online registration will begin on January 4th and run through the end of February. Late registration will begin March 1st and run until March 22nd. Beginning March 23th, registrations will only be accepted for leagues that still had space; all others will be placed on a waiting list. Registration is $100 plus the $5.50 Fairfax County fee. A walk-in registration was held at Chantilly HS from 10:00 - 3:00 PM on January 21st in the cafeteria.
There are no boundary restrictions for registering for CYA Spring basketball. CYA invites individual participants from neighboring juridistictions to participate. However, such participants are placed on CYA teams; CYA does not accept entire teams from other youth clubs.
There are no restrictions on AAU players, Winter Travel league players, or Winter High School freshman, JV, or Varsity players signing up for CYA Spring Basketball. However, CYA reserves the right to distribute such players among the various teams in each league to ensure team balance. Moreover, CYA does not restrict players playing other Spring sports from signing up for CYA Spring basketball but does ask those players to consider whether or not they will be able to commit to one weekday and one weekend game each week.
