Winter and Spring programs

During the Winter 2002-03 season CYA offers a House recreational program for players from 1st through 12th grade and a Prep program for players in 4th and 5th grade. In addition, CYA participates in the Fairfax County Select program (generally for boys in 4th to 12th grade and girls in 4th to 8th grade) and in the Friendship League (for girls in 9th to 12th grade). Due primarily to increases in gym use fees and officiating costs, the registration fees were increased this year to $95 for the House recreational program ($75 for 1st grade) and $100 for both the Prep and Travel programs ($95 plus $5 for the Fall gym use).  After October 28th, a $20 late fee is added to the registration fee (except for high school age kids). Games for all programs begin in December and run through mid-March; practice for the Select program began in October, for Prep in November, and for House in December.
The Select program held tryouts in early October and teams were by mid-October (except for Boys 15 and under and Boys 18 and under which are selected only after the local high schools pick their teams). The Prep tryouts were in late October and early November and teams selected at that time. Most House leagues (except the High School ages) have held their tryouts in mid-November and are in the process of putting together teams (1st and 2nd grade leagues hold no tryouts, as teams are put together by school/neighborhood). As of Thanksgiving, the only House leagues that had not yet held tryouts were 3rd grade boys, 9-10th grade boys, and 9-12th grade girls--these tryouts will be held the first week of December.
