CYA Babe Ruth Baseball
Ages 13-15

During our Spring 2007 season, over 250 boys ages 13 through 15 played baseball in Chantilly Babe Ruth. Chantilly Babe Ruth is part of Babe Ruth District 7, and we operate as an integral component of the Greater Herndon Babe Ruth League (GHBRL).

The GHBRL is comprised of teams from Chantilly, Herndon, and Reston. Chantilly and Herndon operate their own leagues, but join together to play games during the regular Spring and Fall seasons. Within Chantilly, we use the System Concept to promote player development. The System Concept is designed so that a player can stay with the same system in which they are initially drafted throughout their BR career. We currently have three Systems: Braves, Marlins and Reds. See the tabs at the left for more information about each of the systems. Each system is run by a System Manager, and is comprised of three teams, one from each division:

  • Prep - 13 year olds

  • Alliance - 14 & 15 year olds

  • Babe Ruth - more competitive 14 & 15 year olds

For more information on divisions, click on the link at the left-hand side of this page called Division Information. Players are assigned to play in the division which is appropriate for their age and skill level in accordance with Babe Ruth rules. Players sometimes play across divisions to satisfy the needs of the System, and to promote their own development.

CYA Babe Ruth has also developed a strong relationship with the local high school baseball programs. Many of our program’s players play at the high school level with many of the players at Chantilly and Oakton High Schools coming from our CYA program. Many of the players at Westfield, Jefferson and Paul VI also are CYA players as well. Our program’s support of the high school programs is primarily in the form of work and improvements to their baseball facilities. In return, the schools and their coaches have been very supportive of our program through use of their facilities and their time.

We understand many of our 15 year-old players will be participating in a spring sport at their high schools, however please realize that does not preclude playing BR baseball. Our season does not start until after the completion of the spring high school seasons. For example, the high school JV baseball season ends the first week of May. The BR season does not start until the following week. Most all high school players return to play for their Babe Ruth teams after the completion of their high school season.

We look forward to seeing everyone back out again this spring. If you have any questions or concerns about the coming season, please feel free to contact the President, CYA Babe Ruth Baseball at baberuth@chantillyyouth.org .
